LOVE IS LIFE

Love Life Album Cover
By: Simon Becker-Sadava

Unlike most conventional charitable organizations, The Love Is Life Foundation acts as a strong link between a vision and a goal. The vision is, simply put, a commitment to improving human well being and alleviating human suffering globally. We live in a world which requires the best efforts from those enjoying a comfortable life to give back and contribute to those less fortunate. Again, unlike conventional charitable organizations, Love Is Life has developed several programs and options so that there really is no excuses available. A simple example of this is working with the Soles4Souls Foundation (www.soles4souls.org) which collects used shoes and redistributes them to those in need. The Love Is Life Foundation has amazingly already donated over 1,165 pairs of shoes from the public and sent them off to Soles4Souls. If you don’t feel comfortable donating a couple bucks, why not send in that pair of old shoes that hasn’t seen a sidewalk in ages?

The program which brought Love Is Life to my attention is the one which Founder Steve Rosenfield created linking the music community to the cause. While not passing out clothes to the homeless or volunteering at children’s homes, Steve hit the web and found a fantastic list of musicians who were more than willing to donate a tune to help the cause. Amazing bands such as Michael Franti & Spearhead, Ozomatli, John Butler Trio, Nine Mile, Chris Velan, Blue King Brown, Jon & Roy and many others all answered the call and helped towards the end result which is a compilation CD which is not only a brilliant collection of music but also a great way to contribute to a wonderful cause.

Please feel encouraged to visit www.thelilfoundation.org to check out more info on the Love Is Life Foundation, the causes it works for, the wonderful initiatives in motion to get results and the people who all work so hard to make it all happen. The compilation CD is available in the store and I’ll take this opportunity to tell you to pick it up! Not only is it a great listen but it showcases some really great Canadian bands such as Nine Mile, Chris Velan and Jon & Roy.
